COVID19 Street Photography | Shooting Melbourne with Leica M9 During Outbreak

It’s been a while since my last upload! Thought I’d do a quick little walk and shoot in the city. Melbourne is currently in Stage 3 lockdown at the moment, which means that we can only go outside for: medical assistance, supplies, exercise and work. I was already in the city collecting some things that could not be shipped so I figured I’d get some exercise and wander around with my camera.

This is pretty much my usual route around the city. Up Collins St, down Elizabeth, through Bourke St Mall, down Chinatown through to Elizabeth Street again and finish off at Flinders St. As you can see, the streets are crazy quiet. Not many people around, which means the street shooting is largely redundant. Most of the shots are hopelessly terrible, I very poorly attempted to work the scene a touch in a couple of locations, to no avail.

I've been taking terrible street shots on and off since around 2014. I started this site in a attempt to better understand the process of photography and write about it at the same time. While I’m obsessed with gear like pretty much all photography nerds, I’m also obsessed with good photographs that make us feel something. I hoping that through this site my photography will develop into something that makes you feel something (other than complete disappointment, of course).
