I Suck At Street Photography – Episode 1

I suck at street photography, yet for some reason I keep coming back to it. I’m tired of coming home with shots I’m not super proud of, so join me in this weekly POV series where I intend on doing my best at improving. There’s going to be lots of fails, it’ll be awkward as hell but one day I might make an image I’m happy with.

For this episode we start on St. Kilda Road and make our way through the deserted Arts Precinct to the Yarra (that’s also deserted) and then into the heart of the CBD. I hit some sights along the way: one of Melbourne’s many graffiti alleyways, a stop light, some of chinatown and of course Swanston Street. Upside, it was a lovely walk. Downside, not a decent shot in the bunch! Next time!

I've been taking terrible street shots on and off since around 2014. I started this site in a attempt to better understand the process of photography and write about it at the same time. While I’m obsessed with gear like pretty much all photography nerds, I’m also obsessed with good photographs that make us feel something. I hoping that through this site my photography will develop into something that makes you feel something (other than complete disappointment, of course).
