A couple of weeks back I took my GR3 to the Melbourne Cup to shoot some street and do my very best Martin Parr impression in line with his Luxury series.
Took the FAMBAM to the 2019 Royal Melbourne Show and it was a BLAST! If you’re not familiar with the term “show” it loosely translates to “State Fair” or evening “Carnival” for those who find themselves not Australian. I took the opportunity to shoot some family stuff along with a bunch of fun street shots.
I was lucky enough to join in the crowd as Melbourne lead the charge on the Global Strike 4 Climate protest on Friday that saw over 100,000 protesters take the the streets to raise awareness for Climate Change.
Here is the video for the first annual AASPI Photo Walk, held here in Melbourne on July 27th. I attended and met up with some of Melbourne’s best street shooters. I shot with my Ricoh GR3 and was extremely happy with the results, as usual.
Join me as I review the Olympus Pen-F and shoot the suburbs! I look after my daughter in the morning on weekends to give my wife a well earned break. To combat the boredom of spending time with a screaming toddler and to avoid rethinking my life decisions I picked up this camera and have been shooting it solidly since purchasing it.
Now in its 7th year, SITHOM is a street photography and photojournalism exhibition that celebrates the decisive, and often indecisive, but always graceful moments within our gritty, yet beautiful city of Melbourne.
Took my beloved Ricoh GR to the beach, but I didn't want to get it wet. To avoid unwanted moisture I brought with me my super limited, super secretive, limited run water housing...
Off the back of the T2 and T3 fame, the Contax TVS Digital has started to (hilariously) climb in price. It's a surprisingly fun shooter, despite its age and lack of megapixels - it's got five! The TVSd is pretty slow to focus, but nails it almost always but it does take a while to write to old ass SD cards. The files it produces aren't terrible though! The JPGs are perfectly usable and are generally pretty sharp. That said though, it's not worth the silly prices it's currently commanding.
Join me on the streets of Melbourne as I wander around aimlessly with my Ricoh GR and make some truly terrible photographs (I found an oven this time!). Along the way I share my thoughts on this little pocket sized monster of a street shooter
or this video I took the winning Ricoh R10 and film Kodak Tri-X 400 into Melbourne's CBD for some street photography. Wasn't too bad either! The little R10 is a real winner and Tri-x really ticks my boxes. I've been loving Black and White film for such a long time and I'm really seeing why Tri-X is such a go-to for many photogs.
I managed to cop a freebie ticket to the 2018 AFL Grand Final between Collingwood and West Coast. While I had no vested interest in either team winning, Collingwood fans are insufferable at the best of times so watching their team fail in front of them was the ultimate prize. I captured some of the action inside the MCG, but there was more action outside after the game. Shot with my Ricoh GR and converted to Black & White for justice.
Took the Bronica RF 645 out for a Medium Format street session in Richmond. I headed to Victoria Street where there's a pretty sweet Vietnamese ex-pat community along the tram line. This video showcases the strength of T-Max 400, it's such a nice fine grain B+W film that I'm really beginning to prefer it over HP5+.
Held annually since 2012, “Shot in The Heart of Melbourne” or SITHOM is a Street Photography and Photojournalism exhibition that celebrates the decisive, and often indecisive, but always graceful moments that occur within our gritty, yet beautiful city.
JC heads back into Melbourne’s Chinatown with his tiny Ricoh GR to shoot some afternoon street. You’ll see all the […]
In this episode I wandered around the Maribyrnong River in Melbourne's North-West on a nice sunny afternoon. With my trusty Leica M9 + 40mm M-Rokkor I just shot the everyday snapshots that I'd take on an afternoon in the sun, with my camera.
JC heads into the Queen Victoria Market for some afternoon shooting with his M9 and the legendary 40mm M-Rokkor. Markets […]
